ISONIAZID-INDUCED ACUTE PSYCHOTIC EPISODE IN A CHILD WITH LYMPH NODES TUBERCULOSIS: CASE REPORT AND LITERATURE REVIEW

Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which an important public health problem in Morocco. The conventional approaches employed to fight TB are good nutrition, Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination, anti-TB therapy. World Health Organization (WHO) recommends combination treatment of four drugs for two months (isoniazid (INH), rifampicin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol), followed (INH rifampicin) 4 as first line therapy newly diagnosed pulmonary both pediatric adult patients. This regimen generally considered efficacious, safe, cost-effective. However, adverse effects drug interactions often complicates the tuberculosis. INH associated with 32% events, 1.9% psychiatric. Isoniazid-induced psychosis, although infrequent, has been reported patients without psychiatric history, isoniazid monotherapy or other antituberculostatic drugs. We report case 12-year-old, HIV-seronegative boy whopresented delusions hallucinations after starting TBtherapy review literature on INH-induced psychosis.
